CANTILEVER CUTTER HEAD RETRO FIT KIT

The top and bottom cutter head section of the 6-12 C1 & 6-14 D1 planer has been re-engineered to adapt to the quick change or cantilevered style cutter heads. The top cutter head is driven using a cardan drive shaft arrangement while using a direct coupled “C” flange motor on the bottom head.

BENEFITS

LARGER CUTTING CIRCLE

  • Allows for more knives
  • More knife cuts per inch
  • Better finish
  • Easier clearing of jam ups

CANTILEVERED CUTTER HEADS

  • Allows for quick change of heads
  • Improves time
  • Allows for knife setting in the grinding room

DRIVE SHAFT ON TOP HEAD

  • Standard off shelf motors
  • Allows more horsepower due to size limits
  • Top head is supported off board reducing stress to the planer

SAFE JOINT SIDE HEAD PLUNGE JOINTER

The newly designed “plunge joint” side head jointer assemblies for the Stetson-Ross 6-12 (11 1/8” C.C.) and 6-14 (12 1/8” C.C.) were built with safety and convenience in mind.

BENEFITS

  • Allows jointing without opening the hood exposing the unguarded and running side heads.
  • This new system allows the mounting of “plunge jointers” into both the left and right side head assemblies.
  • Allows the operator to leave the jointer assemblies mounted in place and ready for fine adjustment when jointing is required.
  • Cutter head hood is hinged allowing easy access for viewing or head removal.
  • More knife life from better jointing
  • Less grinding time from better jointing

DYNAMIC TENSIONING SYSTEM

This system is adaptable to “any” make of planer or feed table. The following Issues were considered in the design of our system for the Stetson-Ross as well as the mechanical required for the various planers feed tables.

  • Durability
  • Functionality
  • Ease of access for maintenance
  • The least amount of intrusion or clutter on and around the planer and feed table as possible

BENEFITS

  • Controlled and positioned pressure is provided on a just enough basis using 1 per roll MDT (Magnetic Displacement Transducer) fitted cylinders for tensioning and positioning.
  • This system automatically follows the contour of the boards providing more controlled contact, again, with just enough positioned pressure, no need for thin board pull down.
  • Eliminates roll pounding and reduces wear and tear on the infeed table and feed roll area of the planer.
  • Eliminates material breakage under the feed rolls by not over pressuring or crushing the material.
  • Eliminates material breakage under pineapples and booster rolls by not over pressuring or crushing material.
  • The mechanical portion of this retro fit has been designed to provide easy access for maintenance.

PLANER SETWORKS

Our engineering staff has developed what we believe to be the most user friendly, safe, and practical positioning system on the market.

BENEFITS

  • Changes in Production: Possible in less than a few seconds
  • Automatic Release: Quick release system and immediate return to production after wood jamming
  • Skips: One button allows you to simultaneously move both side heads which keeps the same space between them
  • Knives: Rapid automatic adjustment of cutterheads following sharpening of knives
  • Precision: Constant precision of manufactured products (only the first piece needs to be measured)

GILBERT ELECTRIC MOTORIZATION OF FEED ROLLS FOR PLANERS AND INFEED TABLES     DOWNLOAD PDF BROCHURE

BENEFITS

  • There is always a certain amount of slippage in Hydraulic Motors but when they are over sped the slippage increases dramatically
  • Maintenance hours spent on the existing system
  • Maintenance spent on existing Hydraulic drive for the feed table
  • Roll wear from slippage
  • Bushings and Bearings

FEED MECHANISM
Feed rolls are powered by heavy-duty drive shafts and durable timing belts in a self-contained casing which reduces maintenance. Each high-speed rotation case is run by a performance electric motor powered by heavy-duty timing belts. Drive shafts and belts are motorized by a high-efficiency electric motor from 20 to 75 HP.

SPEED
High feeding speed from 500 to 3000 "FEET PER MINUTE".

FRAME
Ultra-sturdy modular steel frame permits easier maintenance and quick access to all components. High-resistant stress relief frame ensures stability. Motorization case is kept closed to maximize security.

TIMING BELTS
Belts have grooves which prevent slipping and enhance the efficiency of the motorization of the planer.
